Case study
Vive la vie: one hour of conversation, several lives of content
We took part in producing an episode of the Vive la vie podcast with Éric Kayser, then in cutting it down into short formats. Two different crafts, and it is the second one companies most often lack.
The long episode
A long-form conversation with Éric Kayser, guest on the podcast. Long form builds something nothing else builds: the time to develop a thought, a listening relationship with the audience, a depth no short format replaces.
Cutting it down into short form
But an hour-long conversation does not get published on social media. You have to pull out the moment that stands on its own, recut it vertically, and win attention in the first three seconds. It is an editing job in its own right: choosing the right extract is harder than cutting it.
It is exactly the exercise a company faces when it has content but no time to cut it down: hours of interviews, talks or podcasts sleeping on a drive, when they contain weeks of posts.
